Keep Your PTCB Certification Valid!

Once you receive your National Certification, your education does not stop here. Everyone must complete at least twenty hours of PTCB approved continuing education hours every two years to keep your National Certification valid. One hour of continuing education must be pharmacy law. To find out what you need to know, log onto PTCB's website and look for the, "Recertification Guidelines" area.

PTCB Recertification

The cost is $35.00 for those who file on time online. For those who mail in their renewal you must include the additional $15.00 for a total fee of $50.00.

Mail your recertification form and C.E. materials (if required) well in advance of your certification expiration deadline in order to allow enough time for your application to be returned if an error has occurred. Note: you may now re-certify online if you are not audited.

ALERT! If your complete recertification materials are not postmarked by your late deadline, you will need to successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination in order to re-obtain national certification.

PTCB now offers certification reinstatement for those who's PTCB Certification has lapsed and is less than 1 year past your expiration date. The fee for reinstatement is $115.00 and to be reinstated you must meet the requirements set forth by PTCB for recertification*

Tech Topics

A series of booklets can be used to achieve your continuing education requirements through "Tech Topics". There are four modules per year of continuing education materials sent to you that will cover everything you need for your recertification renewal. Pharmacy Law is also included in one of the modules for your one-hour law requirement.

"Tech Topics" is published through the Illinois Council of Health-system Pharmacists, (ICHP).

The C.E. material is Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) approved.

Join Your State's Health-system Pharmacists Organization

Join your state's health-system pharmacists organization and earn continuing education credits through seminars and other available programs. You will receive mailings of seminars and other activities available throughout the year. This is a great way to earn CE credits and meet others who work in your field. Most seminars for technicians are very affordable.
